Texas GLO – Hurricane Harvey

On August 25, 2017 Hurricane Harvey came ashore around Rockport, TX with a diameter of 280 miles and 130 mph winds during its first landfall. The category 4 storm caused $125 billion in damages mainly from catastrophic rainfall which triggered flooding in the Houston area and Southeast Texas according to the National Hurricane Center. In a four-day period many areas in Texas received more than forty inches of rain with the town of Nederland, TX receiving over sixty inches. Hundreds of thousands of homes were flooded. The storm did more damage than any other natural disaster in U.S. history except Hurricane Katrina.

RM Quality Construction was one of a handful of companies that received a major construction contract from Texas GLO (General Land Office) for re-construction and new construction of single-family and multi-family residential structures. The agency started awarding homes to be built starting in April 2019 and is expected to be completed by June 2022.
